BREAKS (Building Resilience through Equitable Active Kinaesthetic Sessions – Χτίζοντας ανθεκτικότητα μέσα από κιναισθητικά διαλείμματα για όλους)

The EU-funded (Erasmus+ Sport) project BREAKS (Building Resilience through Equitable Active Kinaesthetic Sessions) has started its activities. This project being under the EU priorities “Encouraging Healthy Lifestyles for All” and “Promoting Education in and through Sport” has a budget of €250,000 and a duration of 24 months until November 2026.

The project is coordinated by the University of Patras, specifically the Department of Educational Sciences and Early Childhood Education (DESECE), under the scientific supervision of Professor Vassiliki Riga. From Greece, collaborating entities include the Laboratory of Pedagogical Research and Training of the University of Patras and the Directorate of Primary Education of Achaia. The BREAKS consortium also includes the University of Rome (Università degli Studi di Roma Foro Italico), the University of Niš (Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Niš), and three small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Cyprus (INQUIRIUM NTD), Thessaloniki, Greece (Stimmuli for Social Change O.E.), and France (Infinitivity Design Labs).

The project aims to address the urgent need for increased physical activity in school environments across Europe. To achieve this, a training programme and a set of tools for teachers will be designed and tested to train them on how to design and implement physical active breaks, which will be implemented in all partner countries of the project.
